Turning Point is coming to town AND WE DON’T WANT THEM!

Turning Point USA, run by Erika Kirk and espousing White Christian nationalist rhetoric, is hosting an educators’ summit right here in Lake County this month. And we want them to know they are NOT welcome here in Lake County! Join NE Lake County Indivisible and partner organizations and help us spread the word!

We are intent upon pushing back on authoritarianism. We know White Christian nationalism and organizations like Turning Point USA aim to dismantle democracy. Trump, the Heritage Foundation, and Project 2025 have laid out the map, targeting pillars of power like our schools. On June 16, alongside Lake County partner organizations, we will gather peacefully in protest to the dismantling and infiltration of our educational system.

Public educational system under attack. We believe our public schools should separate Church and State, and educators should value diversity, equity, and inclusion of all students. We support paying a livable wage to our esteemed educators. And we say “Hands Off Our Schools!”

Join the Honk and Wave Peaceful Protest to let area residents know what is happening. We want to let Marriott know we see they are catering to Turning Point. And we want them all to know they are not welcome in Lake County!!

A core principle behind all NELC-Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
